Russian Lieutenant General Yakov 48, was killed in a strike by the Ukrainian armed forces, they say.

He was Commander of the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District.

The Russian side has not so far confirmed the death.

Oleksiy Arestovych, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, said: “Over the past day, our troops – as we previously reported and we can now say for sure – killed the commander of the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District of Russia, Lieutenant General Yakov Vladimirovich Rezantsev. According to Mr Arestovych, the enemy general was liquidated at the airfield in Chornobaivka, the Kherson region.

Let’s keep open minds and hearts. One death is one too many, whatever side the casualty is on. Nothing is gained by the death of this soldier – someone’s son, perhaps a husband and father. Satan kills regardless, and we have to stand firm in our compassion. Anything else and we become as bad as those who will gloat and rejoice.
