12th October 2023
I received two reports this morning from Ghana. First the school bus needs serious repair. Second, 7 of the children on the bus have not paid their fares for months, and their parents seem to have no intention of paying them even now. This is one of our constant struggles. For some reason – and maybe it’s a Ghanaian thing – people seem to expect to have all sorts of things without paying for them. There could be many reasons for this and I won’t go into them here.
We cannot run a school bus on this basis, and so we have had to take the hard decision and ask the parents of these seven children to send their children somewhere else. The missionary field constantly faces us with difficult challenges. In the end I have 25 teachers to pay – all of whom have families that need to be fed. I cannot allow a small group to destabilise the teachers or the school staff. So we have to take the hard decisions.
ZOOM FROM GHANA
Tuesday night in Ghana is zoom night. We zoom into churches and people supporting us. Paul, Anita and sometimes other members of our African team are with us.
TUESDAYS: Time – 19.30 GMT on ZOOM.
We publish the link on WhatsApp and Facebook, usually on the Monday. Three of the dates – October 31st and November 7th and 14th are already taken. November 21st and 28th are currently free. Why not take a date for your home group or church prayer meeting. I expect these dates to be taken quickly, so do get in touch. There’s something very special in hearing direct from Ghana.
