Bring on the harvest!

In Ghana, Farmers work all year round and usually with no rest days. From the 2019 figures, they produced 1 million metric tonnes of food in 6 different commodities – mainly yam, maize, tomatoes, plantain and fruits. Without them Ghana could not survive. Importing such a vast amount of food would be beyond the nation.

So every year there is a national holiday which called “Farmers day.”  On this special occasion, the nation recognizes the invaluable role that farmers across the 16 regions of the country play in making sure that Ghana has food to feed its population, raw materials to power agro-based industries, and exports for foreign exchange earnings. Agriculture contributes to 54% of Ghana’s GDP, and accounts for over 40% of export earnings, while at the same time providing over 90% of the food needs of the country. A valuable celebration which has just taken place.

Safe home

Mary and myself are now safely home and busy working on many upcoming projects. Mary will do a special teaching month in January for her “daughters” on live stream, as well as maintaining many WhatsApp groups linked to our wider work. As well as helping our local church I am planning a new church in Ghana – Bethel. On our return in late February I will begin to gather together the prayer cell which can form the basis for this new church. Online teaching continues regularly.

We miss our Ghana family at Christmas. For them Christmas is a time of thanksgiving and celebration to the Lord. The material side is mostly ignored, because we do not have the money to waste. Soon be back!
