Our beloved Michael is in hospital again with an episode of sickle cell disease. We have had many of these over the last years. It’s a miserable and painful disease which can break out at any time. The usual prognosis is that things get easier when Michael is fully grown. We’re getting near to that time so we’re praying and hopeful.

It’s a horrible disease which affects many in Africa. Put simply some of the blood cells are sickle shaped rather than round and get jammed in joints and blood vessels, causing intense pain. 

Painful to experience and painful to watch, we hold Michael in our prayers and the thousands of others like him.
