Instant reflections of life in Ghana today

Thursday March 15th 2024

I picked this up from a French news agency –

“Around 170 people were killed in attacks on three villages in northern Burkina Faso a week ago, a regional public prosecutor said Sunday. Aly Benjamin Coulibaly said he received reports of the attacks on the villages of Komsilga, Nodin and Soroe in Yatenga province on February 25th, with a provisional toll of “around 170 people executed”. The attacks left others wounded and caused material damage, the prosecutor for the northern town of Ouahigouya added in a statement.”

One of the things we’re very aware of in Ghana is that, in general we have had no insurgency or rebel attacks. There have been some occasional problems at our northern borders. We have vast unguarded borders and yet we have not had an insurgency problem. Most Ghanaians believe that this is because God has protected us from such attacks. Even government ministers will say this. Liberal westerners may find this a surprise but we in Africa are very aware that our God protects us – and that touches every level of society.
