Smiling on!

Monday 25th March 2024

Samuel is trudging up our stairs carrying buckets of water. The reason? The transformer for our district has lost one of its 3 phases. Consequently many of our plugs and much of our equipment will not work. That includes the water pump, which not only provides water for our room, but water for the lower Primary school toilets and the kitchen. The electricity company was sending a gang to help, but “their car broke down!” They obviously have never heard of taxis.

So another few days pass in Ghana. We all shrug our shoulders and get on with it. That is very much the African way. What can’t be fixed has to be endured, and in Ghana that is usually accompanied by a smile.
