Instant reflections of life in Ghana today

I read this today –
“The Ghana Police Service has filed charges against three persons accused of sharing an intimate video of broadcast journalist, Serwaa Amihere. The individuals identified by the law enforcement agency are Edem Saviour Ketti, a filmmaker; Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, a trader; and Henry Amponsah, popularly known as Henry Fitz. The trio faces four counts of charges related to sexual extortion and the intentional distribution of an intimate visual recording of Serwaa Amihere.”

Western cultures might be surprised to see that in Ghana we are having the same problems with social media as are seen in many Western countries. Fake news, sexploitation, sexual exploitation and abuse on social media are things we’re having to deal with. When it comes to social media whether it’s a highly sophisticated western society or developing country like Ghana we all appear, sadly to be in the same boat!
