It was nice to see pictures of the children back to school on our base. It reminded me of this experience.

I was walking back to our house when a really tiny black African girl came around the corner. I knelt down to speak to her. “Are you having a nice day?” I asked. In a whisper came back the answer, “Yes.” “Have you got sweeties in your bag from the tuck shop?” I asked. “Yes,” came back the whisper. Then I said, “You do know you’re very beautiful don’t you?” There was a long pause, and and then from deep inside came the whispered answer, “Yes!”

These African children are so beautiful that they take your breath away!
