Weather!

Monday 27th May 2024

On our base we have just had the heaviest rainstorm almost in living memory.

The river flooded badly and the schoolchildren had to be held back until the water had receded and they could go home. Many structures small and large have collapsed in the area. Roads have become rivers of mud and there’s a lot of clearing up to do.

This is not the first extreme weather event in our area. During the summer the temperatures were 3° or 4° centigrade above normal which put the temperature into the 35 plus bracket. Very hot uncomfortable and potentially destructive.

It looks like the valley is going  have to learn to cope with these sort of extreme weather events.
