Ghana today – Jim’s view

Instant reflections of life in Ghana today
Thursday 27th June 2024

The national press in Ghana is reporting – “West Ham are facing a battle to keep Mohammed Kudus with Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, one of the clubs interested in signing the forward this summer. Kudus enjoyed a successful first season at the London Stadium, scoring 14 goals following his move from Ajax a year ago.

There is significant interest from Al Ittihad — who also have Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté in their squad — as well as from a number of clubs in the Premier League and across Europe.”

Western nations don’t have a great interest in which footballers are playing where, but Ghana really likes to see its citizens doing well on the world stage. It gives us confidence in our national identity to see that one of our footballers is being approached by the Saudi club. Let’s hope the move proves to be good for him and good for the nation of Ghana.
