We had a phone call this week from one of the people that lives on our base. She had fever and asked us to pray. Fever in Africa is a dangerous thing because it can lead to many other illnesses – especially malaria, dysentery and dengue fever. So it is taken very seriously. Paracetamol and ibuprofen are the obvious drugs, along with keeping cool and resting. The problem is that the drugs are expensive and the pharmacy is a long way from our base.
So we are discussing together how we can make drugs available through our health centre to the local population. We must be careful not to undersell the pharmacies because they have to make their living. So we will have to charge but we don’t have to make profit which may give us a little room to manoeuvre. We will only retail the basic simple drugs, and we can’t start this until we have the funding for it. But we have been able to start our hygiene programme for women, and from next term all the teachers and the young students that need them can have sanitary products free from our health centre. Thank you to those in the UK who have made this possible.

We are creating a list of our supporters and their full details. This will help us to know who our supporters are and where they are based. We need this even if you are subscribed to these posts or on one of our What’sApp channels. They are different lists. It will help the charity as we seek funding from any grant making bodies. The information is kept private, for the sole use of the trust and is not passed to any third party.
